Endurance training expert - to build an AI coach for endurance sport, with world leading sports scientists

Employer: Pillar

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Full time, permanent

Full Description:

Role: Sports Product Manager (Cycling/ Endurance sport Subject Matter Expert)

Introduction:
Pillar is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) coach for triathlon sportspeople, currently focussed on cycling. Pillar’s AI gives personalised and dynamic coaching to amateur cyclists to help them achieve their goals. This could be for the super competitive who are aiming to win amateur events, those picking up their bike for the first time, or rediscovering it after a period away. Pillar is easy to use, and is built around the cyclist. If the cyclist wants structure and detailed metrics, Pillar can give them that. If the cyclist wants simplicity and to engage on an ad hoc basis, Pillar can give them that as well.

Role overview:
This is an exciting time to join Pillar - we’re growing quickly! This is a great opportunity for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in endurance training and physiology to join a dynamic, fast-paced and well funded startup team, who are creating a product that will change people’s lives.

This role is all about helping develop our algorithm to enable it to better evaluate an athlete’s performance, and how they are doing, and giving her/ him training recommendations that help them achieve their goals. The algorithm is rooted in reliable sports science fundamentals, from the world’s leading practitioners, who are also part of our team!

You'll have the opportunity to really shape the product we are building.

Pillar will continue to grow its strong links with the academic community, and has the opportunity to use data, to progress understanding of the effectiveness of different training, nutrition (etc) strategies across different “athlete typologies” - from the highly committed with a lifestyle built around sport, to the more casual with other commitments, sleep regimens etc.

If you’re enthusiastic team player and self-starter, passionate about helping amateur athletes through technology then this could be the role for you! There are opportunities to expand this role in multiple directions - across sports, performance pillars (training, nutrition etc) and other.

This is a role at the intersection of a couple of different disciplines, and so don’t be put off if you don’t feel you’re an ideal fit. What matters most is your expertise in endurance training, conceptual skills and appetite to build.

Responsibilities:
Working as an endurance/cycling subject matter expert in the product team to identify, define and prioritise detailed athlete requirements through cycling and coaching knowledge.
Logically create and develop algorithms to generate optimised training recommendations and to automate the evaluation of training data.
