Aim of the awards

The Conference awards seek to reward outstanding contributions to sport and exercise sciences by BASES members. Awards are presented for research (free communication presentation and poster presentation) in student and non-student categories.

Human Kinetics Student Free Communication Presentation Award

One award of £100 Human Kinetics book vouchers for the best student free communication presentation award made by a BASES student or graduate member.

Award Criteria

  1. The applicant must be the presenting, and thus first named, author of the abstract.
  2. The applicant must be a BASES student or graduate member.
  3. The abstract must be the only one submitted by the applicant for that award.
  4. The abstract must not be entered for consideration for any other Conference awards.
  5. Awards will be given for excellence, reflected in the academic content, presentation and defence quality of the free communication presentation.
  6. The Awards Panel's decision is final in all cases.
  7. These awards will not be made in the absence of submissions of sufficient merit.
  8. The award panel may choose to shortlist presentations for this award based on the scientific merit of the abstracts.

  3. The abstract must be the only one submitted by the applicant for that award.
  4. The abstract must not be entered for consideration for any other Conference awards.
  5. The awards will be given for excellence, reflected in the academic content, presentation and defence quality of the poster presentation.
  6. The Awards Panel's decision is final in all cases.
  7. The award panel may choose to shortlist presentations for this award based on the scientific merit of the abstracts.

One award of £500 (half cash/half book tokens) for the best free communication presentation demonstrating outstanding impacts in terms of reach and significance made by a BASES member.

Award Criteria

  1. The applicant must be the presenting, and thus first named, author of the abstract.
  2. The applicant must be a member of BASES member.
  3. The abstract must be the only one subRoutledge/Taylor & Francis Sport and Exercise Science Impact Award submitted by the applicant for that award.
  4. The abstract must not be entered for consideration for any other Conference awards.
  5. The award is applicable to free communication presentations only.
  6. The award will be given to recognise impact of research outside of academia. Impact is defined as ‘an effect on, change or benefit to the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment or quality of life, beyond academia’.
  7. The Awards Panel's decision is final in all cases.
  8. The closing date is the deadline for abstract submission.
  9. This award will not be made in the absence of submissions of sufficient merit.
  10. The award panel may choose to shortlist presentations for this award based on the merit of the abstracts.
