The English Institute of Sport is a strategic partner of BASES. Both BASES and EIS are committed to raising standards in the application of sport and exercise science and promoting evidence-based practice in the high performance sport sector in the UK.
The English Institute of Sport (EIS) was established in May 2002 and provides sport science, technology and medical support services to elite athletes through a nationwide network of expertise and facilities, working with Olympic and Paralympic summer and winter sports, as well as a number of professional sports. Services are delivered from nine EIS High Performance Centres across the country, as well as at a number of additional partner sites.
As part of its commitment to raising standards and promoting excellence in applied sports science, the EIS now requires all of its sport and exercise science practitioners that provide physiology and biomechanics support to be BASES Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientists.
You can find out more about the work of the EIS by visiting the EIS website. You can also find further information about how the EIS is funded, as well as the other home country sport institutes and the wider UK elite performance strategy by visiting the UK Sport website.
