Full Description:

This post is a part-time academic post coupled with a part-time PhD scholarship fixed term for 5 years. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented Academic Associate, in Exercise Physiology to contribute to teaching in the Department of Sport Science. Most of the teaching will be in the format of seminars, tutorials and laboratory classes. The post is part-time (salary 0.5 FTE) and in addition you will be required to register for a PhD part-time for the duration of the 5-year post (part-time fees will be paid by the Department). 

The PhD is not part of the Academic Associate position. You will make a significant contribution to the Department’s learning and teaching in Exercise Physiology. The PhD topic area will be Environmental Exercise Physiology. The post-holder will be joining sport and exercise scientists and social scientists in the Department of Sport Science and in the Sport, Health and Performance Enhancement (SHAPE) Research Centre. High level mentoring is available for all staff. The start date is as soon as possible. 

Background information on the Department of Sport Science The Department of Sport Science resides within the School of Science and Technology on the Clifton Campus and there are excellent collaborative opportunities with colleagues across the School and University. Currently the Department comprises ~50 academic staff and ~50 PhD research students, as well as large undergraduate and taught postgraduate cohorts. Recent investment into the Department has enhanced our physical resources, research environment and the student learning experience. With four well-equipped physiology laboratories, the British Olympic Association approved environmental chamber, the recently refurbished performance analysis suite and biomechanics and neuromuscular performance laboratories in the £4m Natural Sciences Research Centre, we offer a friendly environment of excellence and invite you to join us.
