Supervision approach

I adopt a multi modal supervision model focusing firmly on supporting the bespoke training needs and career aspirations of the supervisee. My supervision comprises a monthly 1 hour 121 meeting and the option to attend a monthly 2 hour online community of practice meeting with other supervisees. Each month the 121 meeting provides the opportunity for the supervisee to discuss their latest practice experiences, share any challenging cases and seek feedback/guidance. Relevant goals related to the candidate's action plan (directed readings, SEPAR paperwork, workshop attendance etc.) will also be covered to ensure the candidate is progressing towards the various stages of the qualification. The monthly community of practice meeting gives the candidate the chance to develop a professional peer network and learn from, and share with, neophyte experiences with fellow practitioners. Sessions are varied and cover ethical dilemmas faced, discussion of topics of interest, role-play scenarios, and more structured candidate-led workshops related to competency document skills. I am also available for shorter communication (email/phone calls) regarding supervision queries or clarifications during the working week. I adopt a strengths-based approach in my practice philosophy, utilising ACT as a skills framework as the basis of client development, underpinned through a person-centred lens.
