Studying Sport at York St John is different to at other universities. Sure, we prepare our students to work with athletes so they can better train, perform and recover. And, of course, our research pushes the boundaries of what we know about sport, exercise and health. But what makes us different is that we are most interested in how we can use sport to bring about positive social change. What this means in practice is that we ask all our students and staff to spend time using sport to promote social inclusion, bridge cultural divides and challenge negative views and attitudes.

Just over a mile from our main site you will find our sports campus with an indoor sports centre and 57 acres of outside space. Our sports campus includes a large human performance lab, a new research lab for cardiovascular health and a purpose built sport and exercise therapy clinic that sets us apart.

Our indoor facilities include:
• Sports hall
• 3 tennis courts
• Strength and conditioning suite
• Human performance laboratory
• Sports therapy room
• Café and social spaces.

Outdoors, we also have:
• 3 3G pitches for football and for rugby
• 3 floodlit tennis courts
• 3 grass football pitches
• 2 floodlit netball courts
• 2 grass rugby pitches
• A sprint tracks.
