About

The University of Winchester was established in 1840 as a teacher training college and we have a long history of excellence in higher education. We pride ourselves on our innovative and forward-thinking teaching with researchers at the forefront of their disciplines. Student life is centred on our modern campus, within walking distance of the city and our dynamic academic environment is made up of around 6,500 students, studying a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Programmes span education, arts, business, law, sport, humanities, social sciences, health and social care.

As a values-driven institution our students are seen as individuals, and our emphasis is to offer professionally focused courses along with strong student support and excellent facilities for both learning and socialising. This includes a state-of-the-art learning and teaching building, new student villages, an award-winning Student Union and great sports facilities including a new gym (and equipment) and a Sports Stadium.
