About

Welcome to the Centre for Applied Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES). This innovative and contemporary centre is part of the School of Psychology, located within the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Central Lancashire. Studying sport and exercise sciences, within CASES, provides you with an opportunity to supplement a scientific knowledge of sport, exercise and wellbeing with applied experiences in laboratory and field environments. CASES is located within the purpose built ten million pound Darwin building. Making use of a wide range of excellent laboratory and other learning facilities our students study a range of sport and exercise science disciplines. These include the 'classic' biomechanics, physiology and psychology, but also cover other areas such as nutrition, exercise studies, personal training and exercise and fitness. Staff not only utilise their research expertise in enhancing your learning but also draw upon much experience working with professional sportspeople, clinical exercise populations and a wide variety of individuals requiring nutritional or health guidance and support. Recently, staff within CASES have provided consultancy to a diverse range of clients including Bolton Wanderers FC, Preston North End FC, Wigan Warriors RLFC, Recycling UK professional cycling team, England junior netball and several elite individual athletes, including current Olympians. In addition we also provide consultancy services to health-related organisations such as local primary care trusts, Heartbeat North-West and a range of other local health and fitness agencies. We offer a range of courses that recognise the importance of the many disparate disciplines contained within the study sport and exercise sciences.
