Northumbria University, in Newcastle upon Tyne, is an expanding multicultural learning community, with excellent links to further and higher education, industry and commerce throughout the UK, Europe and beyond. Northumbria University was one of the first institutions to offer sport courses and over a 30 year period has expanded provision to depict the current sport, exercise and health industry and the diverse range of careers now available to graduates. Breadth of quality is confirmed by a wide range of staff who possess current vocational knowledge, are worldwide renowned for their research expertise and workforce initiatives within industry. In order to provide the highest level of student experience, the University has invested in a £30 million sport and exercise facility. Sport Central opened in 2011 and is comprised of high specification sport/exercise sciences and coaching laboratories for both teaching and research activity, with a further investment of £1 million for research equipment.
