Call to Action: Expressions of interest - BASES Conference Planning Group, with specialism in Biomechanics and Motor Behaviour, Nutrition and Multi-disciplinary
26th June 2023
The BASES Annual Conference is our flagship event. The Conference Planning Group is responsible for the technical content and overall planning of the annual BASES Conference, including securing all speakers, so that we can deliver world-leading content across sport and exercise sciences within an outstanding conference.
Three members of the Conference Planning Group will be concluding their final tenure in November, following the conclusion of the BASES Conference 2023. We would like to thank Dr Ian Taylor (Chair), Prof Mike Duncan FBASES and Dr Lance Doggart FBASES for their hard work for BASES and for the successful Conferences delivered over their tenure.
We are now going to open advert to recruit three new members, who will join those Group members who will, in November, be starting their second two-year term on the Group: Dr Dan Bailey (Chair for 2024 Conference), Dr Lindsay Bottoms FBASES, Dr Tracy Donachie, and Dr Adam Grainger FBASES (Chair for 2025 Conference). We are now seeking applicants from members with specialisms in Biomechanics and Motor Behaviour, Nutrition and Multi-disciplinary. The incoming appointments will start their first term in November 2023, helping to plan for the BASES Conference 2024.
If you are interested in applying for the roles, the terms of reference for the Group can be found here.
The appointment of the Group members will be via a formal, open and transparent recruitment process, with the aim of attracting the widest range of the most suitable talent. At BASES, we are committed to Fairness, Professionalism, Honesty, Responsibility and Excellence. We strive to improve our ways of working to be more inclusive and diverse, to accelerate our impact on society and live up to our Values. We acknowledge that we lack representation from various underrepresented groups and therefore strongly encourage applications that will amplify the voices of people with a disability, those from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds, women or gender diverse people in STEMM and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Please notify the Chief Executive Officer (iwilson@bases.org.uk) if you require reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
To apply for any of these current vacancies, please submit a maximum of two pages of A4, outlining:
- why you are volunteering for this role,
- what skills and experience you would bring to the Conference Planning Group,
- how you will improve equity, diversity, and inclusion within the context of the Conference Planning Group,
- and any ideas you have about moving forward the work and priorities of the Conference Planning Group.
