BASES 17th Heads of Department Forum

23rd March 2021

BASES hosted the 17th Heads of Department (HoD) Forum, virtually, on Wednesday 17 March 2021. The event provided a day of information and insights for those with leadership roles within sport and exercise sciences academia.

There were a number of presentations and discussions, including ‘Heads of Department roles, challenges and strategies for being successful’, ‘Dealing with COVID-19 and its long-term legacy’, ‘Developing Professionals of the Future’, and ‘The future of teaching, learning, and assessment in sport and exercise sciences. The agenda can be viewed here.

The event was attended by 81 delegates representing 43 UK institutions. HoD Advisory Group Chair, Associate Prof Lance Doggart FBASES, said, “The Forum was another great success, which has built on previous years’ practice, to enable the sharing of a wide variety of good practice and discussion around key themes. We look forward to receiving the feedback from the attendees / delegates and also noting their ideas / suggestions for future HoD Forums.”

BASES Chair, Professor Richard Tong FBASES commented, “A huge thank you to our guest speakers, delegates and sponsors for supporting the event and making it a triumph. I would also like to thank everyone in the BASES office for their support and for running a smooth online event”.

The recordings and presentation will be available to view in the Members’ Area of the BASES website.

Thank you to our event supporters Human Kinetics and CRANLEA
