BASES BIG Meeting 2021

25th March 2021

The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) Biomechanics Interest Group (BIG) 2021 Meeting, will be held (virtually) at Solent University Southampton on Friday 9 April.

The free-to-attend event, in association with the National Biomechanics Day (NBD) initiative, will be a celebration of all things biomechanics, “the breakthrough science of the 21st century”

There will be dedicated sessions on both clinical and sports biomechanics to reflect the environments that biomechanists operate in. There will also be links made to associated disciplines of Sports Engineering, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Under the conference theme, there will be a range of features including keynote lectures and workshops from leading academics, researchers, and practitioners. View the event programme.

Keynote Speakers include:

Prof Janie L Wilson PhD
Professor of Surgery, Biomedical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, McMaster University.

Dr Philip Graham-Smith
Head of Biomechanics and Innovation, Aspire Academy

Dr Martin Warner
Lecturer in Health Sciences, University of Southampton

Dr Laura Jade Elstub
Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the CREATe lab at Vanderbilt University

Shane King
PhD Student in Mechanical Engineering in the Center for Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN

Maura Eveld
Maura is a mechanical engineering PhD student at Vanderbilt University's Center for Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology

Cameron Nurse
Mechanical engineering PhD student at Vanderbilt University in the Center for Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology.

The deadline for abstract submissions is: Monday 29 March 2021

Abstracts are invited in the following biomechanics-related themes:

  • Sports Biomechanics
