This post-doctoral role is based within the Clinical Health and Rehabilitation Team (CHaRT) in the Department of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Portsmouth. The Research Group are looking to recruit a Full Time, fixed term post-doctoral Senior Research Associate to join the team and work on a research project funded by Astra Zeneca on the role of SGLT-2 co-transporter inhibitors on metabolite utilisation in people with type 2 diabetes. This project is a dual-site trial (University of Portsmouth and University of Exeter Medical School). It is anticipated that this role will be conducted primarily at the University of Portsmouth and Queen Alexandra Hospital, however periods of data collection, training and research meetings will also take place at the University of Exeter Medical School.

This project will use techniques such as indirect calorimetry (for resting metabolic rate and fuel utilisation during exercise), muscle biopsies, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, continuous glucose monitoring, accelerometry, thoracic impendence, near-infrared spectroscopy and quality of life, to examine the role of SGLT-2 co-transporter inhibitors on metabolite utilisation in people with T2DM.
