Full description:

We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Science (0.5 FTE, 18 hours), within the Department of Applied Sport and Exercise Sciences. Working as part of an exciting, dynamic, award winning and diverse team covering a wide portfolio of specialities, you will deliver engaging teaching of our modules as well as developing content to stay up-to-date with ever-changing industry practices and provide research informed teaching throughout. You will also liaise with and provide support to our expanding network of industry partners and placement hosts and carry out appropriate administrative duties. 

You will develop and deliver CIMSPA professional standards across the department both for our undergraduates and as CPD. You will also contribute to delivery and administration in particular of exercise based modules to undergraduate students across the university, including Sport and Exercise Science and Sports Therapy. This role has a special emphasis on, physical activity, improving fitness, clinical exercise physiology, health sciences, kinesiology, health promotion and population health improvement. 

You will possess a good relevant undergraduate degree with further professional or academic qualifications at ideally Masters level but must be a member of CIMSPA/REPs and able to design and deliver this type of academic and practical content. You will demonstrate a breadth of knowledge in physiology and clinical exercise physiology and understand current initiatives underpinning clinical exercise physiology. In addition, you will have the ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn using your excellent teaching skills. 

An appropriate record of research and/or knowledge exchange that compliments the existing interests of the School is an advantage. Based at our Docklands and Stratford campuses, our School brings together UEL’s innovative research and teaching. We have a successful and expanding portfolio of taught programmes and exciting new postgraduate programmes. You will be primarily based at SportsDock, the university’s world-class sports facility. Opened in 2011, the £21 million facility was the training base for TeamUSA in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Since then we’ve also hosted sports teams and organisations both professional and amateur, as well as competitions on a local and global scale. This blended environment of teaching within a working university sports facility exposes students to many extracurricular opportunities from our East London Sport and Workforce Development teams.
