About the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES):
BASES is the professional body for sport and exercise sciences in the UK. Our mission is to drive excellence in sport and exercise sciences. We do this via: membership, developing and maintaining professional standards, hosting conference and events and supporting research and publications.
About the role:
BASES is seeking a confident and enthusiastic marketing intern to cover a period of maternity. The successful applicant will take on responsibility for implementing BASES marketing strategy. The role would suit a student or graduate considering a career in sports marketing.
Main Responsibilities:
- Managing the organisation’s communication channels, which include social media platforms, news items and mailouts
- Development and promotion of BASES membership benefits, products and services
- Liaising with marketing/advertising clients and partners to maintain relationships, develop marketing plans and increase advertising revenue
- Promoting and supporting BASES events including the Annual and Student Conference
- Building relationships with university departments to sell ‘bulk membership’ packages
- Maintaining, developing and updating the BASES websites
- Attending relevant conferences, events and exhibitions to promote BASES
- Writing creative briefs and working with suppliers to produce marketing materials (posters, leaflets, adverts etc.)
About You:
- A team player
- Passionate about marketing with an interest in sport and physical activity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- A good working knowledge of using social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Confidant and enthusiastic
- Good attention to detail
- Experience using email marketing systems (e.g. Mailchimp, Gatormail) – preferred, but not essential
