Leeds Trinity has a lot to be proud of – we’re in sixth place nationally for our teaching quality and the top University in Yorkshire for student satisfaction and employability. We’re looking for talented and enthusiastic people to join our team and be part of our ongoing success story. Applications are invited for the following post:

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, collaborative, high performing academic leader to be Head of Department for Sport, Health and Physical Education (SHAPE). Leeds Trinity is a modern ambitious university, proud of its history as an exceptional place for learning and teaching. The University is building on this tradition through its new ambitious strategic plan and new academic structure. This appointment is based in the School of Social and Health Sciences, which is establishing a reputation for the quality of its student experience, research and knowledge exchange in SHAPE.

Working closely with the Head of Social and Health Sciences, the Head of Department will take the lead in the further development and delivery of high quality undergraduate and postgraduate taught course provision and the expanding research and knowledge exchange activities across SHAPE.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to move into a leadership position in which they can fulfil their aspirations to develop SHAPE as one of six successful departments in the new academic structure. As Head of Department you will provide academic leadership and management of academic staff within SHAPE and lead on the development and delivery of innovative, progressive, coherent academic programmes and portfolio development, based on exemplary subject knowledge. You will manage the individual and collective performance and development of academic staff across the Department, together with the development and delivery of leading-edge research and knowledge exchange. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the Department’s performance, particularly in the areas of student recruitment, retention and student experience, is in line with university key performance indicators.

Employees of the University have access to a wide range of benefits including our generous contributory pension schemes, excellent holiday entitlements, on-site sport and fitness centre membership, car park permit scheme and Employee Assistance Programme. We also operate a free shuttle bus to Horsforth station and have an externally owned day nursery facility on campus, along with plenty of shopping, leisure and travel discounts available.
