What is the role?

The Sports Medicine & Science department within our Football Development & Support Centre (FDSC) are looking for a First Team Strength & Conditioning Coach who will work under the Head of Sports Science and First Team Fitness, and First Team Sports Scientist to implement a structured strength, fitness and conditioning program throughout the First Team as part of the FDSC strength & conditioning team.

This exciting role will enable an experienced Strength & Conditioning Coach to work within a progressive sports medicine & science interdisciplinary team, promoting high standards of health, well-being and medical care. The role will be based primarily at our Staplewood Campus in Southampton, Marchwood.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates who can be part of a multi-disciplinary team of people, be proactive and innovative in their approach and communicate effectively at all levels. Underpinning knowledge of applied physiology and biomechanics is essential as is having experience of delivering S&C coaching with elite athletes.

The competencies which are required include:

Essential experience:
Experience of working within a senior professional football environment for a minimum of 2 years.
Pitch and gym based strength and conditioning support to elite individual or team sport athletes.
Experience of data handling to include, but not restricted to GPS, Forcedecks, Polar Team etc.
Experience in delivering progressive rehabilitation programmes for injured athletes.

Essential Qualifications (including certifications):
BSc in Sports Science, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Rehabilitation or similar.
UKSCA or equivalent (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Desirable Qualifications (including certifications):
MSc in Sport Science/Strength and Conditioning.
BASES Accreditation.
PGCE or Equivalent teaching qualification.

Essential skills:
Provide accurate and informative written and verbal reports to a range of key stakeholders.
Ability to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders around player performance.
Team first attitude
Excellent Teamwork Skills.

Desirable skills:
Competent with PC and Mac based operating systems.
