The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure‐track assistant professor position in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology with appointment to begin August, 2020.

CSUF faculty are committed teacher/scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, studios, and individually mentored projects. They teach broadly in the curricula of their departments, advise students, and serve on departmental and university-wide committees. The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include the teaching of introductory and core courses in the discipline, and the development of courses in their area(s) of specialization. Courses that this person will teach include undergraduate and graduate courses in Sport and Exercise Psychology as well as the possibility of Introduction to Kinesiology, Techniques of Coaching, Legal Issues in Kinesiology, or related coursework. This person will also be responsible for producing scholarship / creative work commensurate with the requirements for tenure, and for supervising student thesis/project/comprehensive exams as well as mentoring students completing hours for AASP Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.

CSUF has a Performance Psychology Laboratory with ample space to conduct research. It currently houses two Fitlight© systems; multiple desktop and portable biofeedback modalities (Heart Rate Variability, Temperature, Galvanic Skin Response); a MobileEye© visual tracker system; physical activity monitoring devices; and a variety of miscellaneous motor skill equipment. Desirable candidates will have plans to utilize the lab for independent, collaborative, and student-driven research.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Kinesiology or related field with an emphasis in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology; may apply as ABD with degree conferred by start date
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Sport and Exercise Psychology and potentially related courses (as described above)
• A strong record of, or potential for, scholarly accomplishments
• Ability to conduct research in the Performance Psychology Laboratory at CSUF
• Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues and community
• Demonstrated commitment to and excellence in teaching a diverse student population, including first‐generation college students

Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Kinesiology or related field with an emphasis in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology; may apply as ABD with degree conferred by start date

Preferred Qualifications:
• Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) or willingness and eligibility to become certified
• Research and/or applied experience specializing in sport, exercise, and performance psychology in diverse performance settings such as military, performing arts, law enforcement, or extreme/action/nontraditional sport settings, or research specializing in the application of sport, exercise, and performance psychology with diverse or multi ethnic populations
