We are currently recruiting for a Psychologist to join our Academy Sports Science and Medicine team at USM Finch Farm. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the Performance Psychology support program to players across all Academy phases.


This includes individual, group, coach and parent focussed sessions in accordance with the Academy Performance Psychology strategy. You will also support the Academy staff and contribute to the MDT approach to player development.

Key Responsibilities
• Apply the principles of sport psychology to improve performance.
• Proactively lead a performance impacting service, which defines, delivers and evaluates the development and consolidation of consistent performance behaviours.
• Facilitate players’ understanding of the requirements of elite-level performance: what it takes to perform at the highest level and support them to use this to inform all aspects of their training and performance.
• Identify and facilitate appropriate communication methods (including workshops), to inform and educate players, parents and coaches in the effective use of psychological support and psychological skills training.
• Take an active role in developing a culture which is authentic to the club, working with all staff, players and parents to organically grow a high-performance culture.
• Design and deliver, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and coaching staff, psychological skills training on pitch to enable players to perform.
• Undertake confidential, formal, planned one to one support to all players in the U15, U16 and U18 age groups in pre-season, mid-season and end of season.
• Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with players and coaches

You will need a postgraduate qualification in Sports Psychology (Minimum MSc) and a recognised Psychology registration (HPCP/BPS/BASES CSci).
It is essential that you have extensive experience in an elite youth athlete environment, as well as experience in developing, implementing and evaluating performance psychology programmes.
