Brunel University are extremely pleased to have been awarded
the BASES 2008 Annual Conference. The organisation committee are
wholly committed to making the 2008 Conference an outstanding event
in terms of the Scientific Content, the Conference Organisation
and the Social Programme.
In order to make a success of the 2008 Conference the Organising
Team will concentrate on three core elements:
The scientific programme (Including "World Class" speakers
from both the UK and overseas)
Day 1: The Performing Athlete
Day 2: Health and Physical Activity
Day 3: The Importance of Youth
We anticipate that each day will start with a keynote address based
on the above themes which will be linked to the delivery of these
issues at and beyond London 2012. Following on from this there will
be a number of parallel symposia, academic debates and the most
important part of any conference the opportunity for delegates to
present their own high quality work in both oral and poster formats.

Brunel University has a strong tradition of elite sport built upon
the history and reputation of Borough Road College. A recent investment
of £250 million has transformed Brunel University on the Uxbridge
campus. £13 million has been specifically invested in new
sporting facilities, including a £2.5 million UEFA-class football
venue, the new Indoor Athletics Centre which is part of the EIS's
network and a hub site for UK Athletics. During the 2008 BASES Conference
delegates will be able to take advantage of all of the sports facilities
at no additional cost.
The organisation committee recognise that the Conference is organised
for the BASES membership, accordingly we invite suggestions from
the membership regarding any aspect of the Conference and encourage
involvement from the full BASES membership. See www.bases.org.uk
for further details. We look forward to hosting you at Brunel in
2008.
