Plans to develop the social networking on www.bases.org.uk...
The Strategic Management Team has been working closely with a consultant
to look at ways to develop social networking on www.bases.org.uk.
The social networking will involve blogs, discussion forums and
full social-network based on user profiles.
Phase 1 of the project will be to launch three high-quality blogs
before the Autumn, so this is a call out to members to apply to
be bloggers.
Blogs stimulate debate with the blogger posting interesting articles
that encourages readers to respond. It is hoped that 'critics' will
relish the chance to respond and 'spectators' will enjoy reading
the commentary and learning.
Dr Claire Hitchings, BASES Executive Officer is leading the project,
"I believe social networking has the potential to add real
value to BASES membership. The mission is to be the essential and
vibrant member community for sport and exercise scientists. Key
to the success of the blogs is to find bloggers to provide high-quality
content based on the needs of our members. The success of the blogs
will rely on member engagement as blog creators, commentators and
spectators. Focus, personality and reader comments are key to building
an audience."
Interested in being a BASES blogger?
We are after the following:
- Able to post one high-quality blog a week and respond to comments.
- Able to post high-quality topically focused content relevant
to sport and exercise scientists, which is entertaining, informative,
timely/topical and controversial (content is King)
- Familiarity with current issues within sport and exercise sciences
in general and BASES
- Able to offer a unique perspective and opinion
- Able to provide welcoming, friendly and accommodating posts
- Engaging intelligent writing style
- Excellent organisational, time management, communication and
interpersonal skills.
We are open to offers (e.g., a team of individuals may wish to
be considered to run a blog, bloggers do not have to be BASES members).
This really is an opportunity for members to be creative.
