BASES blogs are launched
The blogging phase of the 'member networking online' project is
now launched. As the largest network of sport and exercise scientists
in the UK, BASES has set itself a mission to be the essential and
vibrant member community for sport and exercise scientists. The
blogs are intended to enable a vibrant member community that can
discuss topical issues. BASES are initially running two blogs -
one from Dr Dan Bishop and one from Dr Claire Hitchings. We aim
to expand this number and are looking for volunteers.
Please visit the BASES Blog webpage.
We believe that the promotional advantages of adding a blog to our
existing website, www.bases.org.uk,
are many and powerful. It provides members with opportunities to
view debates taking place amongst peers. The functionality will
also enable members to comment and make their views known.
Users of blogs are typically broken down into:
- Creators - these individuals will come forward and hosts blogs.
If you don't wish to run a blog on your own a team-approach with
several bloggers could work. Also if the time-commitment is putting
you off, then it might be that you commit for only a short period
of time, for instance 3-months. We are open to offers. This really
is an opportunity for creativity and innovation.
- Critics - these individuals will comment on the blogs and will
hopefully make for some lively debates
- Spectators - these individuals will read the blogs but not comment
- Inactives - let's hope there's not too many of them.
If you are interested in hosting a blog, then please contact Dr
Claire Hitchings (chitchings@bases.org.uk).
