The Sport and Exercise Scientist is the interactive, full-colour
magazine-style newsletter for the Association. Published quarterly, it
is packed with essential news of BASES activities, such as workshops and
national conferences, reports from key post-holders on developments within
BASES, and updates on the major issues that affect members.
In each issue, leading specialists contribute to the Special Feature,
which focuses on aspects of the sport and exercise sciences that impact
on members’ working lives. Topics so far have included: Careers; The Young
Person; Research in the Elderly; Endocrine Responses to Exercise; Disability
and Exercise; Mental Health; and Psychological Well-Being.
The editorial programme for 2004 promises to be the most enterprising
yet as The Sport and Exercise Scientist follows the progress of
our Olympic and Paralympic squads in their run up to the Games, and the
role that BASES members are playing in their bid for gold.
The Sport and Exercise Scientist encourages members to contribute
news, views and articles that will serve to promote excellence in the
sport and exercise sciences by encouraging best practice.
