New workshop

This is a applied workshop which requires direct application of CBT interventions and requires each delegate to fully involve themselves within the applied sessions

A minimum of 15 delegates is needed for this workshop to run

£100  (or £75 for BASES, ACPSM, BASEM & BPS members)

Overview:

This workshop aims to give delegates the opportunity to review CBT models and how they are applied within the sporting situation. The workshop will include the opportunity for delegates to apply personal experience of their working situations and consider how CBT approaches/ techniques can offer alternative therapy to various psychological symptoms and conditions.

The workshop will include a variety of teaching approaches including case study analysis, role play and discussion group / problem solving activities. The learning outcomes will be for each delegate to be able to consider applying CBT techniques within their own working environment and increase the range of interventions that they can offer to clients.

Learning Outcomes of the Workshop:

  • To understand CBT as a psychological intervention approach
  • To allow delegates to gain experience in applying a CBT intervention model in specific case studies
  • To provide guidance on application of CBT interventions in sporting situations
  • For delegates to gain confidence in their applied skills/ competencies  in offering CBT as an alternative approach for intervention through direct practice·        .

Presenter(s):

David Knight has a post graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and is an accredited member of the British Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapists (BABCP) and is governed by their rules and codes of ethics. Alongside the CBT he is trained in the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) a proven technique for dealing with traumatic memories and feelings. He is also a qualified mental health nurse.

David is an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over 15 years of clinical work both in the private sector (at the Priory North London) and in the NHS. He presently works as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Chester and runs his own company delivering CBT training, supervision and therapy.

David’s clinical experience covers working with a range of psychological difficulties including Depression, PTSD and complex anxiety disorders.

Mike Davison is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and a BABCP accredited practitioner with over 15 years of clinical experience in Cognitive and Behaviour Therapies. He is from a dual RMN & RGN background and trained in behavioural psychotherapy on the ENB650 at Maudsley Hospital. Mike has over 10 years experience in conducting training and supervision in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. He presently works as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Chester and runs his own company delivering CBT training, supervision and therapy. Mike’s clinical experience covers working with a range of psychological difficulties including Depression, PTSD and complex anxiety disorders.
