Full Description:
Should I apply? We are looking for people with the ability to translate science into a language understood by athletes from a range of sports and abilities, so they understand the relevance to them and their needs. If you can show us that you have a good grasp of the physiological and nutritional demands facing sport and exercise participants across our key sports of running, football and rugby, then keep reading.

If you have the ability to apply this knowledge to be able to give advice on strategies and techniques that are easy to understand, empathetic, credible and realistic, then this role will suit you. Being well-presented and having great communication skills is a must for this role, and you should be able to use these skills to motivate and influence people to have a positive impact on their sporting performance.

Whilst you will be working with a team on some occasions, many events require one Sport Scientist, so you need to be motivated and able to work independently to the highest standards, whatever the situation.

What experience do I need? A BSc or higher qualification in Sport Science, Nutrition or a related area. It is also essential that you have experience providing applied sport science and nutrition support to athletes, ideally across a range of sports from amateur to elite.

Anything else I should know? We want our ambassadors and employees to believe in our products as much as we do! This means you should be committed to working on behalf of Lucozade for the duration of your relationship with us, and avoid being directly or indirectly employed by any of our competitors. You should also be committed to preparing properly for each event, making sure you are familiar with the event you are working at and the content you are delivering. We would need you to commit to a minimum of 5 events throughout the year, with good availability during the whole of the third week of April. Whilst some events will be on weekdays, many will be on weekends. We may need you to travel away from home, with the odd event requiring an overnight stay.

What do I get in return? In return for your time we will pay competitive daily rates for all events worked as well as providing you with branded sports kit. Travel expenses will be reimbursed where appropriate.

Sounds great. How do I apply? Please send a copy of your CV with a short covering letter to vanessa.x.duncan@gsk.com.

Please note the closing date for receipt of applications is 18:00 GMT on Friday 17th February 2012. If your application has been successful we will contact you for a telephone interview within a week of the application closing date. Please can you indicate clearly on your application a contact telephone number where you can be contacted during office hours (i.e. 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday). If you have not been contacted within 2 weeks of the closing date for this application you should assume that you have been unsuccessful. Face-to-face interviews will take place during the week commencing Monday 27th February (location TBC), with a training day for successful applicants in London the following week.
