The Sport and Exercise Programme Area has a long, well established and well regarded history of activity in teaching, consultancy and research. Current teaching provision encompasses a range of innovative and vocationally relevant undergraduate awards along with a suite of distance-learning and blended–learning postgraduate provision.
In 2010/11 92% of Sport and Exercise students were satisfied with their experience at Staffordshire University. Research activity within the programme area is co-ordinated by the Centre for Sport, Health and Exercise Research. Established in 2001 the Centre submitted in the 2008 RAE in which 60% of outputs were rated as either of international or internationally excellent quality. It is anticipated the Centre for Sport, Health and Exercise Research will also submit in the 2013 REF.
Applications are invited from persons capable of making a substantial contribution to our provision of sport and exercise psychology at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will teach and assess on sport and exercise psychology related modules, general modules and awards across the Faculty and will support inter and intra University collaborative research and consultancy.
You should have a first degree in Psychology or Sport Science and a post-graduate qualification in a related area. It is essential you have, or be working towards, accreditation by British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences to provide sport psychology support or Chartered Psychologist status with the British Psychological Society. Relevant and adequate experience of teaching in Higher Education, excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team and the potential to contribute to research are also essential.
This post is permanent, working 37 hours per week (1.0fte).
