Strength & Conditioning should be considered the application of sport
physiology, biomechanics, sports psychology and sports medicine research
to athletic preparation.
Objectives of the Interest Group:
- Promote strength & conditioning as a field within sports science
that is underpinned by applied physiology, biomechanics, sports psychology,
and sports medicine.
- Establish a network of researchers, coaches and practitioners in the
UK with a shared interest in best practice with regard to athletic preparation.
- Support collaboration between researchers, coaches and practitioners
in order to further knowledge pertaining to all aspects of athletic
preparation for high performance sport.
- Identify and address the barriers to the application of research findings
relevant to athletic preparation in high performance sport and make
efforts to overcome such barriers.
- Promote links with international organizations, such as the NSCA and
UKSCA

The Strength & Conditioning Interest Group aims to disseminate knowledge,
promote evidence-based practice, and to support research that is relevant
to athletic application and facilitate its application to high performance
sport.
