What is Exercise Physiology?
Exercise physiology is the branch of the biological sciences that is concerned with the way that the body responds to exercise and training.
What is an Exercise Physiologist?
Exercise physiologists are scientists who investigate the responses and adaptations to muscular activity in human subjects or animals and use this knowledge to improve human performance, whether the goal is running a marathon, getting in shape or the prevention and treatment of illness.
Where Do Exercise Physiologists Work?
Exercise physiologists are employed in research centres and academic institutions, hospitals and medical centres, and sports organisations. In addition to research and applied/clinical support work, they will often teach academic courses in exercise physiology, applied human physiology, environmental physiology, exercise biochemistry and nutrition for students of sport and exercise science, physical education, medicine, nursing and other related fields.
