Biomechanics Interest Group Annual meeting - 4 April 2012

BIG 2012 Meeting

The next BASES Biomechanics Interest Group meeting (BIG 2012) will be held at the University of Ulster on Wednesday April 4th 2012 from 10am to 4.30pm. This annual meeting is designed to allow biomechanists to meet up, share ideas and try out new research presentations with like-minded researchers across the UK and Ireland.

We are pleased to say that we currently have approximately 90 registered delegates and a scientific programme including:

  • A keynote by Professor Joseph Hamill (University of Massachusetts) entitled ‘Rearfoot and forefoot footfall patterns: Implications for running-related injuries’
  • A panel discussion on the merits of barefoot/minimalist footwear
  • A golf biomechanics demo facilitated by Qualisys
  • 11 oral and 23 poster presentations. These presentations investigate biomechanical issues across a wide range of sporting and exercise pursuits (running, golf, tennis, cricket, kayaking, etc.) as well as methodological issues in the recording and analysis of biomechanical data.
