BASES offers financial support to conveners of Interest Groups (IG) to encourage the development of scientific, educational events, meetings and activities that can benefit its members so as to increase their knowledge base in sports and exercise sciences. The purpose of an IG is to develop a forum for discussion /debate and to establish links and cross-fertilization of ideas in sports and exercise sciences.
The financial support is intended to pump prime these activities and has been set at £5 per member per year. That is, if a scientific meeting has been arranged on a particular topic for 20 members, £100 will be allocated by BASES. A maximum of £150 per event has been set (ie 30 members).
The funds are to contribute towards such incidentals such as hiring a venue, paying for speakers, travel, publicity or any other reasonable costs against running events. This does not preclude the IG from levying costs to members but it is hoped that these are kept to a minimum and are such that they are sufficient to cover the cost of the event.
The event should be sanctioned by the BASES Chair in the first instance.
Please email a list of your interest group members to Jane Bairstow so that funding can be set up. An application form for funding can be obtained from the BASES office.
