What You Can Expect As a Client
BASES Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientists have been formally
recognised for their ability to provide scientific support services or
carry out quality research in sport and exercise sciences. Accredited
Sport and Exercise Scientists have met the professional criteria set by
BASES and have undergone a certification review of their
qualifications, competencies, knowledge and skills in sport and
exercise sciences. BASES Accreditation is recognised by bodies such as
UK Sport, the British Olympic Association, Home Countries’ Sports
Institutes, the British Psychological Society, National Sports Medicine
Institute and sports coach UK. In terms of formal qualifications,
Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientists will normally be expected to
hold a first degree and a higher degree in Sport and Exercise Science

As a client, when working with a BASES Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist, you can expect:
- A clear and precise statement of what the programme of work will and will not do
- Open discussion on the appropriateness and achievability of stated aims, and negotiated adjustment of them if necessary
- The use of the most appropriate assessment techniques and methods to be used in the intervention
- A
clear and precise agreement on the proposed scope of these methods, the
degree of confidentiality of information obtained, the form of the
intervention, the expected outcomes, the time frame and the cost
- At all times the assessment/intervention/monitoring will be conducted to highest standards of safety and professionalism
- Feedback will be provided following any assessment including information on the interpretation and implications of results
- The
intervention and/or educational programme will be fully justified by
reference to both your needs and a stated and justified scientific
perspective
- The programme will be evaluated and adjusted on an on-going basis
- The BASES Code of Conduct will be strictly adhered to.
