Special Interest Group
Molecular Exercise Physiology Online Course
The BASES special interest group in Molecular Exercise Physiology
(MEP) was launched at the BASES annual conference at Liverpool 2004.
One agreed goal was ‘To promote teaching in MEP and staff development
by offering online presentations and other learning materials partially
via a MEP special interest group website and during specific BASES
MEP teaching workshops’.
The PowerPoint downloads here were used as online teaching materials
for level 3 BSc Sports Biomedicine students at the University of
Dundee. The students additionally attended weekly tutorials plus
practicals on muscle histology and Western blotting among other.
Members of the MEP special interest group are encouraged to use
these materials as an introduction into the research in the field
and as a source of ideas for their own teaching.
Others who are willing to upload their own materials should contact
me; also, comments and constructive criticism are welcome.
Finally, I hope that members of the MEP special interest group
will be able to offer MEP teaching or research workshops in the
future. Hopefully, there is somebody out there who would be willing
to offer a workshop on RT-PCR, Western blotting, genotyping and
performace or teaching strategies.
